First and foremost, I would like to thank Essence and Time Inc. for the opportunity to attend the 2016 Essence Festival and provide media access to my readers. This experience was beyond amazing and it was quite overwhelming in a good and fulfilling manner. There was so much to do and see that it was a fun challenge coordinating my busy time schedule. Overall, I had a blast!
As a blogger, many people don’t consider our outlets as being credible and worthy of recognition. Although all blogs are not created equal, there are some of us who seek to bring about an effective change to this world of media coverage. That is why I am grateful for the opportunities to expand my brand when they are presented to me.
One thing that some people may not realize is that the Essence Festival offers more than just music. The empowerment seminars/expos and television/film discussions allow fans to receive a VIP experience with some of their favorite actors and empowerment gurus.
This year over 450,000 attendees took part in the Essence Festival across the city of New Orleans, Louisiana during the Fourth of July weekend. First time appearances for this cultural celebration included Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Tyra Banks, Misty Copeland and many others. These women are a testament to the fact that it is never too late to attend your first Essence Festival. If you’re trying to determine if this event is beneficial for you, hopefully this post will encourage you to make plans to attend next year.
Festival sponsors included presenting sponsor Coca-Cola and major sponsors Ford, McDonald’s, State Farm, Verizon, and Walmart. Superlounge sponsors include Coca-Cola, Ford, and Walmart. The All Star Gospel Tribute that celebrated the accomplishment of the legendary gospel group, The Clark Sisters, was sponsored by Walmart.
