78th Annual Tony Awards

This year’s 78th Annual Tony Awards opened with a riveting introduction by host and Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo, who reminded us that, “Sometimes all you need is a song.” Throughout the evening, Erivo seamlessly navigated outfit changes while injecting bits of humor between breaks.

One standout moment that cannot be overlooked is the historic milestone Broadway achieved this season—one of its most profitable years ever. This remarkable success proudly declares, “Broadway is back!”

Check out the highlights from this magical ceremony.

The most Tony-nominated performer in Broadway history, Audra McDonald, delivered a spellbinding performance as Mama Rose in the revival of Gypsy. Audra, we love you and the only Patti we recognize here is LaBelle! I can’t wait to see you perform live on Broadway.

And we can’t forget the well-deserved Tony recognition for Best Play recipient Steppenwolf’s production of Purpose, written by Tony Award-winning playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by two-time Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad. Jacobs-Jenkins also reminded us of the critical importance of supporting local theaters, which is a necessity now more than ever.
