Glitter&Gumbo sends our love and prayers to the Los Angelenos and all those affected by the recent California wildfires. Although there’s been a lot of disheartening news to take our breath away at the beginning of a new year, Tristar Pictures’ new comedy, “One of them Days,” can certainly add heartfelt laughter to your spirit. One of Them Days, starring Keke Palmer, SZA, Maude Apatow, Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, and Katt Williams, is scheduled to arrive in theaters on January 17, 2025.
Set in the backdrop of Los Angeles, California, comedic character energy exudes from Keke Palmer as she takes the lead in this film with her infectious and bubbly co-star SZA. These two together bring about a natural on-screen bestie vibe that is quite remarkable to watch as it blossoms through the film. The shenanigans are absolutely wild, and nuggets of comedy fill the pockets of curiosity as you wonder what these two will come up against next.
The cameos featuring the comedy world’s brightest stars and veteran actress Vanessa Bell Calloway (Mama Ruth) add a little sparkle to make this story shine with bright hues of glee. Actor Patrick Cage has all of the ladies in the theater swooning. Cage lit our eyes with chocolate candy that is too scrumptious to miss.
I will inevitably notice the product placement and marketing that had me thinking, “Is Church’s Chicken really that good?” At least in the film, this chicken looks delicious. Thankfully, viewers at the Houston premiere received a complimentary 8-piece mixed coupon to try it for ourselves.
Overall, One of These Days is a good film that will make the audience laugh. In these days and times, a little joy is what we need.
