I am a fan of Anika Noni Rose and her work. It’s great to see her land a feature role that will allow her to shine as the bright star she already is. The new drama series ‘The Quad’ airing on BET Networks February 1 at 10 PM ET will feature Anika Noni Rose as Dr. Eva Fletcher who is President of Georgia A&M. Operating on the premise of a strong and smart African American woman running a Historically Black College and University (HBCU), it will be enlightening to see the trials and tribulations a woman must endure when men seem to rule as the majority.
One aspect of this series that really intrigues me is the notion that if an African American woman attended an Ivy League college, she can’t possibly lead an HBCU. Nonsense! I know EVA will shut the haters down. Depicting the college experience will not fall short of providing good storylines that will have us wanting more. I will be ready and waiting with my popcorn to discuss the hot topics of the series. Learn more about ‘The Quad’ and view a short clip below. Enjoy!
ABOUT THE SERIES
THE QUAD follows the ambitious yet secretive life of EVA, the newly elected President of Georgia A&M (an HBCU), her administration, and the entering freshman class. Our freshman are led by ZOE, Eva’s rebellious daughter, CEDRIC, a talented rapper on the come up, and BOJOHN, who is looking to achieve victory and success as the school’s first white starting quarterback.
The staple of Georgia A&M is their prestigious marching band led by their charismatic yet ruthless leader, ART DIAMOND. Art’s power and influence proves a challenge to Eva but she manages to find strong allies in ELLA GRACE, Dean of the history department, and football coach, EUGENE HARDWICK.
Though the students and faculty of THE QUAD come from different places and face different challenges, one similarity remains—everyone is looking to make a name for themselves at Georgia A&M.
In the clip below, Dr. Fletcher (played by Anika Noni Rose) is the newly hired president of Georgia A&M (GAMU) and is beginning to see the power struggles she must overcome to get the university back to the top of its ranks. She has to prove herself and in the clip, she’s not taking anyone’s shade, including the band director’s.
