The Houston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated will host a Virtual Candidate Forum. The Houston forum will live stream on Saturday, September 19, 2020. The presentation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by a moderated panel occurring at 10:00 am CST.
Houstonians have a significant opportunity to engage with the candidates running in November’s general election at the national, state, and local levels. By participating in this forum, Houstonians can use the information gathered to identify the best candidate to serve legislation that will impact our city.
“We are committed to advocating for Houstonians and providing an opportunity for the community to hear directly from the candidates who want to represent and serve,” says Jona Sargent, President of Houston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. “Even in the midst of a pandemic, we must be persistent as we encourage civic engagement. And this virtual forum will help us in that effort.”
This event is a collaboration between the Houston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in partnership with Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, The Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals, The National Urban League Young Professionals, and The League of Women Voters-Houston.
