Lately, I’ve been itching to get a little crafty because nothing says Christmas quite like glitter, glue, and a dash of Grinchy mischief.
The holiday season always tickles my heart (two sizes too small, of course) with a love for the Grinch and all his delightfully sneaky shenanigans.
Did you hear the news? McDonald’s cooked up a Grinch themed Happy Meal complete with Big Macs, nuggets, and goodies like Grinch salt and socks so colorful they’d make even Whoville jealous. Truly, it’s an “I’m loving it” moment worthy of a grin as wide as the Grinch’s on Christmas Eve.
To keep the nostalgia ringing, I decided to whip up a nifty little craft that families can make together. There’s no fancy Cricut machines, just good old-fashioned scissors, paper, glue, and imagination.
After all, in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, when our green friend made a gift for Martha May he didn’t need gadgets. He had a little heart, creativity, junk, and a sprinkle of chaos.
And the best part is that you can involve the kids in whatever you decide to create. Whether they’re cutting, gluing, or adding their own quirky touches, they’ll end up with something handmade and heartfelt. A craft that’s perfectly imperfect, bursting with holiday cheer, and ready to be displayed proudly around your home like a little piece of Whoville magic.
Materials: I’m repurposing the McDonald’s McCafe coffee cup designs to create a custom flower pot. You can use real or faux plants to create the design of your heart.
Flower Pot Craft

To utilize the gap in the back of the pot with the repurposed coffee cup design, I created a heart 3 sizes big to compensate the overall look and theme of the character as shown below.

And for the kids that don’t like to sit for too long, you can have them color a picture on the back of their cup design, and insert their work within a DIY mug.
