HOUSTON CELEBRATES “TRAE DAY” ON JULY 22, 2017

Historically it is written that the number 10 signifies divine perfection, and on July 22, 2017 the 10th anniversary of “Trae Day” will celebrate a milestone that is significantly impacting the lives of Houstonians.

Frazier Othel Thompson III, bettter known as Houston’s own “Trae Tha Truth”, is a hip-hop rapper whose legacy exceeds the heart of his community. While most rappers are known for being flashy when it comes to flaunting material things, Trae is living proof that hip-hop can be used as a platform for the greater good of humanity.

Former Houston Mayor, Bill White, bestowed a huge honor upon “Trae Tha Truth” when he presented a proclamation that July 22nd would be known as “Trae Day” in the City of Houston. This historic recognition allowed him to become the first Texas rapper to receive an official City holiday.

Therefore on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Discovery Green on 1500 McKinney St., “Trae Day” will commence and families are encouraged to come out and support this community event. There will be free games and rides for the kids, as well as complimentary school supplies, laptop giveaway, immunizations, HIV testing, a free concert, and some special surprise guests. In collaboration with a Houston Public Library initiative, hip-hop scholarship winners will also be announced at the event.

The entire weekend also includes a plethora of activities and parties to commemorate the full circle of “Trae Tha Truth’s” achievements. Through his non-profit organization titled “Angel By Nature” Trae will continue to allow his philanthropy efforts to bless the lives of others in need. We salute “Trae Tha Truth” for his tireless work in the City of Houston. View a schedule of the various celebrations below.
