Lately, I’ve been craving some good ol’ crawfish and an authentic king cake made in Louisiana.

Although the crawfish I’ve encountered this early in the season hasn’t lived up to the hype, I focused my attention on finding a king cake. Of course, I pass by this special delicacy in my local grocery store during this time of the year; however, I was willing to wait for the real deal.
So, when I learned that the King Cake Drive-Thru was in town to visit Houston, TX, I took this opportunity to finally satisfy my sweet tooth.
The King Cake Drive-Thru is produced by a husband-and-wife team that developed this concept to help local businesses in Louisiana receive marketing and awareness of creating these King Cake treats.
With a multitude of selections, a King Cake connoisseur could become overwhelmed. Nevertheless, I didn’t allow that indecisiveness to stop me from making a list and checking it twice.
The beauty of this popup is not having to get out of your car to stand in a line on your feet. Customers received car delivery service by waiting in line and being greeted by staff members operating the event.

Although the prices were steep, I reminded myself I was helping small businesses, which is always a win in my book.
Overall, the King Cakes did not disappoint; I’m pleased with my purchases. I will return next year when the King Cake Drive-Thru returns for a third annual Houston visit. View more of my King Cakes below.
