During a press conference, New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick and Mayor LaToya Cantrell explained that around 3:15 AM CST, an unidentified male driving a white pickup truck bypassed a police barricade and drove into a crowded area on Bourbon Street. After crashing his vehicle, the suspect exited and fired at NOPD officers, injuring two, who are now in stable condition.

Alethea Duncan, FBI Assistant Special Agent in charge stated that explosive devices were found at the scene and are being examined to determine their explosive potential.

NOPD Chief Kirkpatrick and Mayor Cantrell are encouraging tourists and locals to continue with their day but to avoid Bourbon Street due to the ongoing investigation.
