I have a new fondness for the New England Patriots that surprises me. For many years I’ve viewed them as an annoyance due to their success of always being a road block for the Houston Texans’ championship dreams. Regardless of their historic scandals or privileged demeanor, this team is uniquely created to bond as a structured tight-knit family.
Robert Kraft, the New England Patriots owner, reminds me of a gentle teddy bear that loves the people he works with on a daily basis. He graciously allowed the media to ask questions on his thoughts of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick retiring, and overcoming the adversity of having your quarterback suspended due to noncompliance of the mandated NFL rules (Deflategate). As any owner would suggest, he hopes Bill and Tom will continue the legacy that was built over 17 years ago. Robert Kraft is encouraged about his organization’s journey thus far.
I hope that if we win this, it will be a great statement to people who are pursuing their dreams that sometimes you get treated unfairly and things don’t go your way; just hang in there and keep persevering and sometimes good things happen.
Tom Brady is whole-heartedly a family man and expressed hope in his mother being able to attend the game on Sunday. This time around, I plan on seeing a more determined Brady out there on the field. He has certainly overcome a lot and with his mother hopefully being in NRG Stadium, this will truly give him something worthwhile to fight for.
Did I mention that Tom Brady strives to remain humble despite the records and rings he receives? One important figure that keeps him out of the celebrity ego status is Bill Belichick.
I can complete a really good play and say to myself, wow that was really good! Then I look over at Coach and he has his head down looking at the next play.
Tom Brady appreciates how Bill doesn’t show any favoritism and treats him like one of the guys from the team. “He believes in excellence” Tom states, and this statement is profoundly felt when you walk into the presence of this organization. These two gentlemen share an unspoken trust and heartfelt relationship after working together for almost two decades.
As Tom began to close his time at the podium, a loud “Hey Tom!” bellowed from behind the curtain. Admittedly Tom Brady explains that he was startled at the sudden noise that occurred, and so was I. The loud voice belonged to TE Martellus Bennett “Marty” who was joking around in the back.
The entire team seems very poised, calm and relaxed. I am looking forward to Sunday’s game in anticipation of how the chips may fall. View footage from the press conference and enjoy!
