It is being reported that screenwriter and film director John Singleton has passed away at the age of 51. On April 17 John was hospitalized after suffering from a stroke and did not fully recover.
John’s writing and films resonated with many people including myself. Films such as “Poetic Justice,” “Boyz n the Hood,” and “Higher Learning” are my all-time favorite films written and directed by John Singleton.
John made history in 1992 when he became the youngest and first African American director nominated for an Academy Award.
