It’s time for another edition of Soul Glitter featuring music that has captured my ears and heart. Check out these amazing tracks below and let your Soul Glow!
Dallas, Texas native and Grammy-nominated artist Tayla Parx presents her cover compilation project, A Blue State that is worth a listening ear and more. The melodic majesty in Tayla’s voice reflects her mood and the current climate so eloquently, as she pays homage to Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On,” Lauryn Hill’s “Everything is Everything” and Kirk Franklin’s “I Smile.” More music to come soon from Parx, who is set to release a new album, Coping Mechanisms, on November 20.
I first became a fan of singer/songwriter Sevyn when I heard the 2013 track, “It Won’t Stop (featuring Chris Brown)off her debut album Call Me Crazy, But. Sevyn continues to move forward on her musical journey and presents a new single “Kissez” feat. Davido via TStreetz Corp/Groundwērk/eOne. The Afrobeat-propelled track, produced by BongoByTheWay(Big Sean, Ty Dolla $ign), finds Sevyn and Davido pouring out their intimate feelings.
This track deserves another round of applause, so I’m serving it up again for October 2020. In case you missed it, you may remember Quincy Jones’ 1989 album titled Back on the Block that featured the song “The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite) with legendary artists Al B. Sure, James Ingram, El Debarge, and Barry White. These gentlemen offered their smooth vocals to this track, written by Quincy Jones, Siedah Garrett, Rod Temperton, and El Debarge. And now, we have an all-star group of R&B artists offering their take for the ladies in the 21st Century. “Secret Garden,” featuring Sisqo, Raheem DeVaughn, Shawn Stockman, and Omar Wilson, is available for download and streaming on all music platforms.
