Teriyaki Octopus Salad

Did you know H-E-B can steam your seafood for you while you shop? Well, I took advantage of that service and chose an octopus dish for my selection. The octopus I picked was Octopus vulgaris, sourced from Portugal. This particular species typically lives 1-2 years in its natural habitat.

l’ve eaten octopus before, but this was my first time cooking it at home. If you opt to have your octopus steamed in-store, you can request that they remove the beak before cooking.

Once I brought my steamed octopus home, I prepared a teriyaki marinade and let it simmer for an additional 40-45 minutes. After that, it turned out nice and tender. If you’re curious about the taste, I’d describe it as a more refined version of imitation crab. It’s definitely a unique flavor and texture for adventurous eaters to explore.
