Houston (September 22, 2016) – Last night, all of Houston, TX came out to support our own “Queen Bey” as she slayed us with her magical powers of fierceness. The Formation World Tour made its second visit back to Houston to honor fans with another helping of some tasty Lemonade.
Lemonade is the sixth album from Beyoncé that was released on April 23, 2016. That day, the world was in awe as we all watched her new music come to life via an HBO special presentation. One thing I love in particular about my fellow Virgo is that Beyoncé is always reinventing herself. Each time she puts out an album you see another transforming layer of musical greatness.
I had the honor and privilege of being invited to attend last night’s concert as a guest of Parkwood Entertainment. This experience was phenomenal and first class. As we entered the NRG stadium the aura of excitement radiated through our bodies. Fans all around us became family as we were greeted with warm smiles and discussions about this epic event. Fans were also dressed in their “Formation” gear and various attire to celebrate the grand occasion too. (View fashion from the concert in our next post.)
D.J. Khaled opened up with music to get our bodies moving and energy pumping, followed by opening musical performances from rappers Bun B. and Ingrid. It was refreshing to see Houston artists grace the stage to bring in the “H-Town” vibe. Then the time arrived for all of us to see the woman we were all waiting for, Beyoncé .
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is a true entertainer that will leave you speechless after she performs. Watching her live is priceless and the costuming for The Formation World Tour is absolutely gorgeous. The beading, fabric, and hair to say the least was breathtaking. The costume changes were quick and undetectable until Beyoncé appeared back on the stage. The set flowed perfectly and the timing was efficient. Kudos to the dancers, singers, and musicians that help bring this tour to life as well. This experience truly takes a team effort and their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.
I love how the music catalog on this tour highlights some of our beloved Beyoncé moments in time. Some of my favorite songs featured last night include, “Formation,” “I Ain’t Sorry,” “Hold up,” “Diva,” “Flawless,” and an a cappella version of “Love On Top” to name a few.
When the confetti surprisingly fell on top of us during a rendition of “Party” my excitement reached a whole new level of euphoria. This was fantastic! Needless to say, I love music concerts that allow the audience to revel in the experience. Overall this concert felt like a much needed workout to rid myself of previous frustrations, and encouraged me to keep moving forward. Although my body is tired after all that dancing my spirit is rejuvenated.
As I attempted to sing along with the radio on my way home, I marveled at how my vocal chords were no longer useful and sounded horrible. The Beyoncé effect had taken over and it was time for me to lay it down (sleep) and sing in my head.
Up next for Beyoncé is a stop in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Mercedes Benz Superdome. Visit Ticketmaster to view the remaining dates for the final stretch of the tour which ends on October 7. Enjoy.
