This year in the U.S. we have seen our share of violence that is beyond human comprehension. Our condolences go out to Dwayne Wade (Chicago Bulls) and his family as they deal with the loss of his cousin, Nykea Aldridge, who was fatally shot by a stray bullet in Chicago, Illinois. Nykea was walking and pushing her baby in a stroller, while on her way to register her children for school. She died on August 26.
On July 13 at the 2016 ESPY Awards, Dwayne Wade stood in solidarity with his fellow basketball brothers to take a stand against violence in our country. Lebron James’ moving speech encouraged all athletes to use their names and visual power to help bring about change in their communities.

As a South Side Chicago native, I know his cousin’s death will not be in vain as he will do everything he can to make his voice heard and help reach the new generation in a peaceful manner.
