Known for being one of the original members of the world-renowned girl group, En Vogue, singer, and songwriter Terry Ellis released a new single titled “Angry Black Woman” that will resonate with your spirit and soul. As an outcry to the police brutality towards Black people, Terry Ellis uses her gift of song to translate the pain, hurt, frustration, and anger that is felt across the world.
2.) Emanuel – “Need You”
R&B artist Emanuel’s single “Need You” is so refreshing and reminiscent of a walk by the ocean on a hot summer day. Basically, this song gives me the chill and relaxation vibes that are needed for a calm mood. 3.) Yemi Alade – “Boyz”
As a contributor to Beyonce’s The Lion King: The Gift album, Nigerian superstar Yemi Alade brings all the fun and electric sass with this “Boyz” uptempo Afropop track. With the release of four albums thus far, in 2014, Yemi’s hit single “Johnny” from the King of Queens project catapulted her greatness worldwide and garnered 100 million views on YouTube. Yemi’s forthcoming album Fifth LP will be available soon and is sure to be a special treat for our ears to embrace.
4.) PJ Morton – “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”
Due to the impending effects of a global pandemic, the 2020 Essence Festival was held digitally for the first time. Although many fans attendees desired to be in New Orleans for all of the festivities, everyone had the opportunity to witness them. All of the performers were fantastic, and one musician spoke explicitly to my heart with a beautiful rendition of his song “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” to lift our spirit.
