HBO MIXTAPES AND ROLLER SKATES HOUSTON TOUR EXPERIENCE

HBO held a fun and whimsical summer marketing tour in Houston to highlight the new upcoming seasons of ‘Insecure,’ ‘The Deuce,’ and ‘Ballers’ which premiere on the network.

I must say, this event was top notch and lots of fun to say the least. Although the start time was set for 8:00 p.m. guests began to arrive 1 hour early at the Fun Plex skating rink to beat the RSVP-only frenzy.

Houston Skate crews were allowed entry into the venue first to prepare for their show performance. All guests upon entry are required to sign a waiver and will receive a wristband. One of the HBO team members working the event had our ears buzzing as she described the setup inside. Upon hearing this news, I was so glad I arrived early too.

The sounds of Jasmine Solano rang loud and clear as she entertained the crowd with her musical mix at the start of the event. I immediately walked over to the complimentary skates station to sign-up for my gift. Yes, you read that correctly. HBO graciously gave away a pair of skates to a maximum of 250 people in attendance. Not only that, we could choose our own stencil customization that was spray painted for our viewing pleasure.

A “Fry Bar” and specialty cocktails captivated our eyes as we partook in all of the goodies that were available. Later in the evening, a cool photo booth located near the back of the rink offered free photos and Boomerang style video moments. Fans also received a sneak peek on the highlighted shows on the big screen.

(It is hot and humid in Houston, so with Issa’s voice in my head you know I had to try the Thirsty As F**K?.)

DJ-Sun, DJ Camilo, and Just Blaze lit up the night too and had the crowd moving with excitement. DJ/Rapper Manny Fresh could also be seen walking around amongst the crowd having a good time as well.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and appreciated the activity stations and gifts to promote the HBO brand. As a fan of the hit television series ‘Insecure,’ I definitely had to represent Team Issa on my complimentary skates to commemorate this occasion.

Thank you, HBO for allowing Houston, Texas to be included in this venture. We had a blast! Next up on this multi-city tour of Mixtapes and Roller Skates is Philadelphia. Click this link to RSVP for a city near you before it’s too late. You don’t want to miss this.
