Inaugural ESSENCE Girls United Giving Challenge July 4-7, 2019

The inaugural ESSENCE Girls United Giving Challenge, a community-wide, 4-day online giving event, will take place on July 4-7 during the 25th anniversary ESSENCE Festival® presented by Coca-Cola. Every donation made on the essence.civicore.com website will be amplified on this weekend of giving through national and local partners and the greater community for participating organizations.

The Girls United Giving Challenge is inspired by ESSENCE Girls United, an impactful new initiative designed to guide young Black women through a year-long mentorship program, as well as an interactive digital/social content hub that will convey the core principles of leadership and self-love.

“The ESSENCE Festival has been a party with a purpose from its inception. We are passionate about serving our community of women broadly and deeply. Supporting organizations that lift up young girls in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana is an essential part of our brand’s mission,” said Michelle Ebanks, CEO of Essence Communications.

The ESSENCE Girls United Giving Challenge includes the following 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the Greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas serving young Black women:

  • BR Grow Girls
  • Beautiful Foundation
