INCREDIBLES 2 REVIEW: MY TOP 3 A-HA MOMENTS

On November 5, 2004, The Incredibles were brought to life and introduced us to a dynamic family of superheroes. While grossing $633 million and winning Academy Awards, this film ultimately positioned its self to follow-up with a huge sequel. Although many didn’t expect the 2nd release to take this long, 14 years has proven that all good things come with time.

Fans across the globe are excited to witness the Parr family once again light up our world with their witty genius abilities, as Incredibles 2 is now available in theaters.

On Monday, June 11, 2018 I had the esteemed pleasure of viewing an advance screening of Incredibles 2 here in Houston, Texas. As a rated PG film, and the first Pixar film in history to receive this rating, I gathered many themes or lessons that resonated with me throughout the film and caught my attention.

As a believer of not totally spoiling the film for those who haven’t seen it, I’ll keep my commentary short while providing a general review. Here are my top 3 a-ha moments.

Don’t Allow Technology to Ruin Our Lives

The Screenslaver became the ultimate nemesis that tried to overtake the superhero world. How befitting it is for art to imitate the world we live in today. Cell phones, televisions, iPads and galore are significantly blinding us into a fantasy world hypnosis. It’s important to remember that our families and community comes first. Technology is an added bonus.

Who Runs the World? Girls!

Women are empowering their households by becoming breadwinners and gifted producers in their own right. Helen Parr also known as Elasti Girl displayed this spirit in its truest form. Although it appears glamorous, the life of a superhero is exhausting. Having a significant other in your corner is helpful towards fighting the daily needs of a family.

Are You Ready for the Next Generation?

The new generation of superheroes or leaders are watching us and waiting for their time. With so many advanced tactics and knowledge at their disposal, don’t be surprised when your little one or teenager pops up with a historic, “Let me help you!” Not only will they take care of business, a new way of handling the everyday struggles will come forth from a fresh new mind. Out with old and in with the new generation of thinkers.

Overall, my munchkin and I were glued to the screen and shrieking with noises of amazement. Jack-Jack steals the movie scenes with his infectious humor and adorable presence. This is a film for all to enjoy.

FILM SYNOPSIS: In “Incredibles 2,” Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
