LOVE JONES, one of my favorite all-time movies, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. In honor of this nostalgic piece of work, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will have a screening & panel discussion on June 13 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles.
The event will feature the film’s writer/director Theodore Witcher and several cast members for an unforgettable moment in time. The host for the evening will be Barry Jenkins, writer/director of MOONLIGHT. Purchase tickets here.
I distinctly remember replaying the entire movie and soundtrack from beginning to end listening to greats such as Dionne Farris, Lauryn Hill, Maxwell and others.
Everything about this film gave me hope for finding true love. Although reality didn’t turn out as planned, I will forever live through the lives of these characters.
With the inclusion of poetry, art, photography, and the essence of an authentic intelligent discussion between grown men and women, this film will forever be epic.
