Monday Night Football
Texans vs. Raiders in Mexico City

Two first-place divisional NFL teams will prepare for battle as the first-ever Monday Night Football game is played outside of the United States. On Monday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. CT The Houston Texans (6-3) and the Oakland Raiders (7-2) will meet at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The game will be televised live on ESPN in the U.S. and on Televisa and ESPN in Mexico. One team will walk away with a (7-3) record.

The NFL returns to Mexico for the first time since October 2, 2005 when a crowd of 103,467 witnessed the league’s first international regular-season game as the Arizona Cardinals defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-14 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The Texans and Raiders are sure to wow the crowd as another historic attendance record is set during the Monday Night Football game.

“Expanding our International Series of regular-season games to Mexico marks an important step in our continued international growth,” says NFL Commissioner ROGER GOODELL. “We have a tremendous, passionate fan base in Mexico and we know the atmosphere on game day will be outstanding.”

This is the first international game for the Houston Texans in its franchise history. “We are excited the Houston Texans can represent the NFL on an international stage for the first time on Monday Night Football this fall,” said Texans Owner ROBERT C. MCNAIR. “This is a great opportunity to grow our brand on a global scale and we are looking forward to playing in front of a passionate crowd at historic Azteca Stadium.”

Last but not least, “Go Texans!”

Post Game Update:

Let me start off by saying this, the Houston Texans were the underdogs last night for sure. Despite all of the boos from the crowd and laser beams being pointed at our QB I was a little impressed. We could have won this game but time, the referees, and missed tackles hurt us deeply.

What I want to know is how in the world did the referees not see WR DeAndre Hopkins stay in bounds as he kept running for a touchdown, yet they were able to witness RB Lamar Miller stepping out of bounds before he hit the end zone? Things that make you go hmmm?

The true test of a team’s endurance to win shines through when they can bypass all of the foolishness and adversity that is being handed to them on the field. I was so proud of Jadeveon Clowney last night. It was like he had a fire within that was pushing him towards greatness. I pray this spark continues. And let me say this as well, I love J.J. Watt to the fullest however he is not the only qualified player on our team. It makes me sad when people believe the Houston Texans can’t fully succeed without J.J. Watt. In order to win a football game it takes a TEAM effort, and not just the effort of one player.

Look at the Dallas Cowboys, they lost Tony Romo and they are moving on beautifully as if he never existed. Sorry for the shade but the writing is on the wall. Although it will sincerely hurt to see the Dallas Cowboys travel down I45 for Super Bowl LI (Then again they will probably take a 50 minute chartered flight to Houston) I must give them their respect. It still hurts though.

Anywho, DeAndre came back to life last night as well and I liked it. Welcome back DeAndre! We all missed you. I pray he keeps this fire burning. There were several shining beams of light (no pun intended) I witnessed last night so its time to recap our Texans Gumbo Notables.

Will Fuller – Unfortunately Will wasn’t his normal self last night so I am unable to comment on his contribution at this time. I still have love for you Will!

DE JADEVEON CLOWNEY – Although Jadeveon didn’t record any sacks last night, his presence was known.

WR DeANDRE HOPKINS – DeAndre would have recorded a 100 yard game and had at least five points to pass Shayne Graham’s record, but you know what really happened. Sad.

QB BROCK OSWEILER – Brock recorded 243 passing yards for this Raiders game. He set a single season career high of 2,061 yards thus far so kudos to him. I pray he keeps this up as well and works towards increasing yardage to at least 200 every game from here on out.
