The new film “Sweet Girl ” starring Jason Momoa as Ray Cooper and Isabela Merced as Rachel Cooper premiered globally on Netflix August 20, 2021. Glitter&Gumbo Entertainment Media had the distinct pleasure of viewing a virtual premiere of the film before its release, and I was pleasantly surprised to witness such a unique perspective in how writers Gregg Hurwitz & Philip Eisner pursued the storyline of this film.

Utilizing 80% of the backdrop and scenery in the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, viewers will appreciate the earthiness and gritty features the cinematography captures through the characters’ experiences.

Fans of veteran actor Jason Momoa already know he will bring the anticipated action we love. However, it’s refreshing to see Momoa tap into an emotional awareness that comes with the territory of being a father that will do anything to protect his family. Jason Momoa explains his theory behind the role when he states, “When I first read the script, it really resonated with me as a father. It made me think about what I would do if this were to happen to me and if I was in this situation. What would I do? How would I feel about it? What measures would I take into my own hands? Obviously, we took things really far in the lm, and we have some amazing twists that I’ve never seen before, but there are some parts of this movie that just rip your heart out, too.”

Isabel Merced beautifully captures the term “Sweet Girl” and delivers a fiery beast none of us expected. This film will make you go back and rewind in your brain the moments that make you say, “Wait a minute, did she just do that?” Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is a brilliant assassin that gives us the impression of a meek and mild businessman that doesn’t mind listening to the rationale of a good debate or opportunistic conversation.

Be sure to watch “Sweet Girl” premiering now on Netflix as a devastated husband (Jason Momoa) vows to bring justice to the people responsible for his wife’s death while protecting the only family he has left, his daughter (Isabela Merced).
