The 94th Oscars nominations for all 23 categories were announced today, February 8, via a global live stream with actor-comedian Leslie Jordan and CEO and producer Tracee Ellis Ross, along with some special guests as they reveal the who’s who of Hollywood.
Surprisingly, Lady Gaga did not receive a nomination for her role in “House of Gucci,” which has many people shocked in disbelief due to her powerful performance. However, actress Aunjanue Ellis received a Best Supporting Role nod for her portrayal as Oracene “Brandy” Williams in the film “King Richard.” Lately, Will Smith has been blazing through the media world with his unique touch via a memoir, a remake of his hit television series “Fresh Prince,” and now a Best Actor Leading Role Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Richard Williams, the father of tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams in the film respectively titled “King Richard.”
And the two-time Oscar-winning King of our theatre hearts, Denzel Washington, received an actor in a leading role nomination for “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” which makes this his 10th Academy Award nomination overall in his career.
The first-time nominees are always fun to watch and observe as they soak up this historic moment in time. This year, the Academy recognizes nine first-time nominees: Jessie Buckley, Ariana DeBose, Kirsten Dunst, Aunjanue Ellis, Ciarán Hinds, Troy Kotsur Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Kristen Stewart.
