ABC’s “The Bachelor” Matt James Premiere Recap
In the year 2021, ABC’s popular romantic television series “The Bachelor” premiered tonight, and for its 25th season, Matt James is the first Black Bachelor. This tall glass of chocolate milk is refreshing to behold and will certainly make the ladies swoon and fall in love.
Hailing from North Carolina, Matt James is a 29-year-old North Carolina native who works as a real estate broker, entrepreneur, and community organization founder. Matt attended Wake Forest University, where he majored in economics and played wide receiver for the football team. He went on to play professional football before moving to New York City.
Matt appeared scared and nervous like a fish out of water, and it was cute; however, host Chris Harrison calmly threw him back into the water and said, “Let’s go!”
Considering his role as the first Black Bachelor, Matt expressed the pressure of choosing a woman people will be pleased with. He needs to decide if he’s doing this for television or to indeed find a wife for life. If Matt chooses the latter, he will have no problem falling in love with the woman of his dreams regardless of skin tone.
Of course, the ladies selected for this historic 25th season did not disappoint with the shenanigans, drama, and beautiful garments. I don’t understand how Matt allowed a woman to feed him spaghetti like they were in a clip from Lady and the Tramp. You don’t even know where her hands have been! That was an eww moment for me. But then, a girl named Katie comes along and says, hold my beer, as she pulls out a vibrator. If that ain’t’ the most uncouth thing I have ever seen, ladies across the world should have been clutching their pearls.
The kicker that came in the form of, “Oh no, she didn’t” is when Katie dared to interrupt Matt by tapping a young lady on the shoulder with her vibrator. I can only imagine if Katie pulled that move with a sista because that vibrator would have been snatched and thrown far across the lawn. We don’t play that.
Overall, it seems Matt is quite smitten with Abigail (First row blue dress left) and found comfort in her eyes and touch because he did not hesitate to plant his lips all over her mouth. Victoria’s personality is a nuisance. Kit (Black boots and pink feathers) seems as if she will fit right into her role as a Fashion Entrepreneur and create quite a stir of “I’m better than you” appeal. I really liked the Alicia (hot pink dress ballerina), but Matt wasn’t feeling her at all.
This season shall be entertaining to watch. I hope Matt finds love and allows himself to open up and become vulnerable enough to find his one true love.
