THE HOUSTON ROCKETS VS. GOLIATH: VICTORY IS IN YOUR HANDS

On May 25, 2015 the Houston Rockets competed at the Toyota Center against the Golden State Warriors for the Western Conference Finals. My brother and I attended this game to support our hometown team regardless of the fact we were down 3-0 in the series.

This night was peculiar and special all in the same breath. We won with a score of 128-115 and James Harden ended up with 45 points to end the night. Houston was loud, proud, and the feeling of an extraordinary accomplishment ran through our spirits. We were down but not out just yet.

And yet, it’s 2018 and the Western Conference Finals are upon us. The opponent is none other than our arch rival, the Golden State Warriors. Or whom I like to call, our Goliath. If you are unfamiliar about a notable Bible story featuring a young King named David, here’s a quick paraphrasing synopsis.

Back in the day, Goliath was a huge giant that annoyed everyone in the town. He was always making the comment, “No one can defeat me!” So Goliath put out a challenge for the toughest human being to go one-on-one with him and battle it out. Everyone was scared to fight him but a young man named David took the challenge.

David was tired of Goliath running his mouth and destroying the kingdom. So he said to his family, “If no one is willing to defeat this Goliath, I will!” So David picked up a slingshot and a stone and knocked the big old giant down. Everyone was shocked that he did it however, David had faith in God that all would work in his favor.

So what am I trying to say? The Golden State Warriors are the Goliath and reigning NBA Champions that stand in the way of the Houston Rockets reaching their goal. The Rockets have everything they need to defeat this Golden State Giant however, victory lies in their hands.

Yes, people are talking, doubting, and saying that the Rockets don’t stand a chance against this tall, strong, and tough team. But do you believe the Rockets can do it? The ball handling, team effort, precision, hustling defense, outstanding offense and more are vital to help our hometown shock the world.

I want the Rockets to know that you’ve got to pick up the stone and fight with all you have to knock down Golden State. It can be done and it’s all in your hands. Let’s do this. Run as One.

2015 Western Conference Finals Epic Memories

Stephen Curry got hurt and you could hear a pin drop in the 18,000 seat stadium. Thankfully, he was okay.

As native Houstonians we are familiar with flooding however, this screen made us a little nervous. That night my brother and I made it out safely and back home. Houston had tumultuous rain and several Rockets fans were at the Toyota Center for hours after the game due to the flooding. That is why this night was bittersweet.
