Entertainment In the Pot Movies

Up Next On Netflix

Welp, it’s time to be still as we take into consideration the healthcare workers who are risking their well-being to save the lives of others. Since the state of California is on a COVID-19 lockdown and more states will soon follow, Netflix is no longer just a chill mechanism. This crisis has developed a “For Real” mindset, and streaming services are one way to bring a little entertainment to our hearts.

So I would like to share a few films that are on my radar and hopefully you’ll enjoy them too.

SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL – NOW STREAMING

(Action packed and riveting. Thoroughly enjoyed it. This film is not suitable for kids.)

Spenser (Mark Wahlberg) — an ex-cop better known for making trouble than solving it — just got out of prison and is leaving Boston for good. But first he gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), with a promising amateur. That’s Hawk (Winston Duke), a brash, no-nonsense MMA fighter convinced he’ll be a tougher opponent than Spenser ever was. When two of Spenser’s former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits Hawk and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend, Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger), to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice. From director Peter Berg, SPENSER CONFIDENTIAL is an action-comedy co-starring Bokeem Woodbine, Marc Maron and Austin Post. Inspired by Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland, a best-selling novel by Ace Atkins.

SELF-MADE: INSPIRED BY THE LIFE OF MADAM C.J. WALKER – 4 Episodic Limited Series

UNCORKED – MARCH 27 RELEASE – (I’m so excited to see this film!)

Fueled by his love for wine, Elijah enrolls in a course to become a master sommelier, an elite designation given only to a handful who are able to pass its notoriously difficult exam. It’s a dream that upends the expectations of his father, Louis (Courtney B. Vance), who insists Elijah take over the popular Memphis barbeque joint that’s been passed down from father to son since its inception. Elijah struggles with the demands of school and a new relationship, while Louis wrestles with the feelings of his son rejecting the family business until a tragedy forces both of them to slow things down. Written and directed by Prentice Penny (INSECURE), and starring Mamoudou Athie, Courtney B. Vance, and Niecy Nash, UNCORKED is a hilarious and touching drama about a father and son who have to finally learn to listen to one another.
