On Sunday, June 26, 2016 BET Networks will honor the legendary icon, Prince, with a tribute from some of the best artists in the music business. The 16th annual BET Awards will air live on BET 8 p.m. ET.
We can all agree that the death of Prince Rogers Nelson took us by surprise. Therefore it is only right that we honor him with a true musical celebration. Every year I look forward to watching the BET Awards, and witnessing that one moment that will have us in an uproar of excitement.
Although the 2016 Billboard Music Awards tried their best to pull together a Prince memorial, my heart was on pins and needles. After Madonna gave her tribute performance I knew the backlash was coming. Prince fans take his music seriously and want performers to slay them with the purple essence of rain. Anything less will be scrutinized. So it’s no hard feelings Madonna, it’s all love coming from a hurt and distraught place.
I believe this upcoming BET Prince tribute will be heartfelt and epic. Be sure to tune in and watch some fascinating performances from Sheila E., The Roots, D’Angelo, Janelle Monae and just announced, Stevie Wonder.
