First, let me say that it always fascinates me how a Marvel movie can make you view a villain with a whole new set of eyes. Is he or she really a monster or just misunderstood?
The storyline gave you significant panel pieces of the new journey up ahead for Spider-Man, yet the last quarter of the film sold me.
The visual effects and acrobatic choreography had me amazed with intricate scenes that detail the magnitude of one’s own power. And the plot twist had me in awe of how something so simple can be magnified to create a powerful impact. I was blown away by the magic of it all. No pun intended.
As we all know, the mantra “With great power comes great responsibility” holds true: the creative team behind “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” secured their creative power by allowing the audience to see Spider-Man evolve into a greater being with heightened superpowers and a more mature mindset. It was miraculous to see this new light and aura of Spider-Man ooze across the screen with such versatility and fervor. Loved it!
Subconsciously, Spider-Man beckons us all to examine how we show up in the world and embrace our true authenticity. And there’s no greater message than honoring and recognizing your true worth.
Without giving anything away, I will say Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) and Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher) are the perfect mix of ying/yang goodness. The comedy was oozing so effortlessly that even my teenager was impressed by their acting chemistry.
Overall, to keep a franchise going, you have to learn how to evolve, keep your audience on its toes, and always asking for, “What’s next?” Spider-Man Brand New Day certainly lives up to the hype of this exact sentiment. Bravo.
