Entertainment In the Pot

NICKELODEON KIDS’ CHOICE SPORTS 2018

Kids just wanna have fun and acknowledge the heroes in their lives that make our world a better place. Known as the only show that intertwines a youth culture with the love of athletes, Kids’ Choice Sports always delivers a fun slime-filled good time for families across the country.

Hosted by Houston Rockets’ point guard and former NBA All-Star MVP Chris Paul, Kids’ Choice Sports 2018 was taped live Thursday, July 19, from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., and will premiere Friday, July 20, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) as a simulcast on Nickelodeon, TeenNick and Nicktoons.

Glitter&Gumbo had the honor of speaking with phenomenal athletes and entertainers on the Orange Carpet to celebrate this momentous occasion. Houston Rockets’ players P.J. Tucker and Gerald Green were also in attendance to support their teammate Chris Paul as he delivered his hosting debut. Tucker also revealed some moves off the court when he participated in the Shake-N-Bake challenge, a musical chairs game hosted by Michael Strahan.

Highlights from the show include motor-sport pioneer Danica Patrick being honored with the Legend Award for her trailblazing achievements and outstanding sportsmanship. At the conclusion of her acceptance speech, Patrick received the ultimate reward of being doused from head to toe in gold slime.

Chris Paul relived his childhood dream of participating in the iconic Double Dare obstacle course. Liza Koshy and Marc Summers set up an amazing opportunity for Paul and the most decorated Olympian in history, Michael Phelps, to compete in a head-to-head showdown with a super messy course.

On Friday, July 20, kids will be able to play along throughout the broadcast by casting their votes to impact the show, taking polls to root for their favorite athletes, creating memes and engaging with photos and videos from the event. Nick.com/kids-choice-sports/  will provide the exclusive access to all the stars and athletes all night long.

Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports 2018 will be the first show powered by Nickelodeon’s SCREENS UP app which allows viewers to experience the show like never before through Augmented Reality on their mobile devices.  Available now on the App Store and via Google Play, Nickelodeon’s SCREENS UP will feature four eye-popping AR TV moments throughout the show including flying blimps, gold slime, a chance to take on Chris Paul in an interactive basketball game and more. SCREENS UP also provides fans with a robust second screen experience, while featuring AR-enhanced interactivity such as games and stickers of Nickelodeon characters that users can interact with in their world.

Be sure to tune-in Friday, July 20, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) to watch all the magic and fun unfold. View photos below and enjoy.
