Bird Box Top 3 Film Takeaway Moments

If you haven’t seen the Bird Box film on Netflix please watch it before reading my a-ha moments.

#1 Can Creatures Stand the Rain?

When I began typing this post, it was raining hard outside and the electricity shut off due to the storm. I immediately went into Bird Box mode and used my listening skills to watch out for the sounds of a possible tornado, which are known to appear in our region from time to time. Then all of a sudden I realized throughout the Bird Box film it never rained! Evidently the creatures controlled the weather too. Somehow this evil force used the daylight to do its dirty work, which had me thinking that rain could have been a deterrent for an escape. The creatures wanted everyone to see a false beauty appearing outside however, that would be impossible if a rainstorm were to occur.

Therefore rain is a cleanser.  So often we marvel in the sun and forget that thunderstorms must happen to water our habitats, cleanse us, and release more into our lives. We must learn to weather the storm to reach the full beauty of this thing called life. And on that note, you know I had to drop a little New Edition to end this segment poetically. Peep the video below.

#2 Survival Skills House Edition

What do you have in your house? If you’ve ever seen not so important things lying around your home or walked by something insignificant, Bird Box will give you some creative ideas for survival mode. Whether it be a natural disaster or unexpected emergency, knowing what’s around your home helps. Who knew the value of a GPS System could be used as a lifesaver? Or how paint and tape could be used on car windows to block out evil forces as you travel to the grocery store? And using the gift of birds as clue providers to warn you of impending trouble is huge. The next time you walk by a book or eating utensil in your home, you may want to consider how these items may help you when you least expect it.

#3 The Natural Instinct of Motherhood

Notice how Malorie (Sandra Bullock) wasn’t thrilled to become a mother or felt like she wasn’t ready for this journey. However, she instinctively went into protection mode to guard Boy and Girl from being swept away into darkness. Malorie had several opportunities to leave Girl behind despite her promise to Olympia, but somehow she forged her way through treacherous paths for them to reach safety.

This goes to show that none of us wake up with the manual on how to be a perfect mother. You just make the decision to get up and put one foot in front of the other. It’s as if everything we need will meet us along the way and prepare our hearts for a thrilling ride. So, if you’ve ever felt like you are unworthy or seem to be lacking what you need to provide for your family, knowing that you made it this far in life speaks volumes. Motherhood is not easy however, it’s a developing process that brings revelation and hopefully growth to all who encounter it.
