CALM DOWN, HOUSTON: SINGER K.MICHELLE RECEIVED A CERTIFICATE OF HONOR

While driving around town today, I was listening to the radio and a lot of Houstonians called in to express their concern over R&B singer, K.Michelle, receiving a day named in her honor in Houston, TX.

In case you missed it, K.Michelle recently posted to her Instagram a video in which she received a certificate from Houston Council Member Michael Kubosh's office. The representative in the video proclaimed July 16, 2017 as K.Michelle day and Kimberly expressed her gratitude for the love that was shown.

Houstonians are upset because they feel this honor should be given to individuals who represent the City and give back to the community.

I'm a woman that loves to share facts. Therefore I spoke with Ms. Shirley from Council Member Kubosh's office and she explained the misconception of the whole interaction, "It is a certificate to salute her on her day of performance in Houston. If she
had received a Proclamation, she would be brought down to the City of Houston (Headquarters) and shake hands with the Mayor."

Meaning on July 16, 2017, when K.Michelle performed at the Houston Arena Theater, she received a certificate as a thoughtful gesture for bringing her musical journey to Houston. Click here and look under the requirements for receiving a certificate in the City of Houston.

Regardless, I respect and congratulate K.Michelle on all of her accomplishments. Although her roots began in Memphis, Tennessee she still represents the South and that's alright with me.

Besides recording three albums, owning a new restaurant establishment (Puff & Petals), and collaborating with Jack Daniel's, K.Michelle deserves the certificate recognition. So Houston, calm down. Protocol is being handled appropriately. It's all good.
