THE NFL FALL MEETING IN NEW YORK EXPRESSED A COMMITMENT ON ADDRESSING SOCIAL JUSTICE ISSUES

Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner, attended the NFL Fall meeting to bring about a commitment to working with players to address the issues of social justice.

Members of the NFL Players Association in attendance stated, “NFL executives and owners joined NFLPA executives and player leaders to review and discuss plans to utilize our platform to promote equality and effectuate positive change.”

Another meeting will commence in possibly two weeks, to continue the discussion of how the NFL will strive to make a difference in the community and around the world.

As a beginning step to place the NFL’s commitment in action, Doug Baldwin, Jr. of the Seattle Seahawks and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a letter on October 16, 2017 to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act of 2017 (S. 1917).
