A TEXANS TALE: INJURIES, SUSPENSION, AND A HOLDOUT OH, MY!

The Houston Texans represent a team that has all the odds stacked up against them. As of September 15, 2017 the injury report is listed as quite dismal however, the game must carry on.

Although it appeared as if we were watching a football game last week, unfortunately a concussion bowling ball came through and knocked down all of our tight ends. C.J. Fiedorowicz, Ryan Griffin, and Stephen Anderson all suffered concussions during the Jacksonville Jaguars game. I mean seriously, how is this even possible?

Fast forward to this week during the Bengals game CB Johnathan Joseph did not suffer a major injury to his shoulder thank God. He should be okay to play in the near future. However, CB Kevin Johnson suffered a sprained MCL and is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Former Texans CB A.J. Bouye, who now plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars was a phenomenal player for our defense. A.J. made several critical plays for our team last season that landed in our favor for the win. I was completely baffled and dumbfounded on why we allowed him to walk away.

Therefore A.J. had every right to go hard on his former teammate Deandre Hopkins during the Week 1 contest. It just hurts my heart to see a good player go astray.

And the news of Brian Cushing being suspended for 10 games, due to him violating the leagues performance enhancement substances is hurtful to say the least. Especially considering this is his 2nd time being found guilty of this disturbance.

Nevertheless I still have love for Brian and always will. My hope is that if he needs help he should seek it right away during this time of clarity. I want him to realize that he as a whole person is more important than his persona on the field. Real Talk.

Hopefully the Quarterback shuffle is laid to rest, and we all can officially focus on making our future QB Deshaun Watson a better well-rounded player. Had it not been for his 49-yard rushing touchdown we wouldn’t be on the winning side at the moment. Regardless I like his tenacity, drive, and don’t give up spirit. He’s hungry and we need this fire now, more than ever for this Texans team.

Duane, oh Duane. Wherefore art thou Duane Brown? I totally understand both sides of the spectrum in regards to Texans offensive left tackle Duane Brown wanting a new and improved contract. It is being reported that he loses $553,000 per game missed. Forget a Texans shootout, this Texans holdout is no joke and quite serious.

Having Duane out there on the field to assist Deshaun Watson will be a much needed piece to our distorted offense puzzle. Prayerfully a swift resolution will abound that works in our favor.

Despite the injuries, suspension, and QB replacements J.J. Watt brought everything into perspective when he made this (paraphrasing) statement on ESPN after the Thursday Night Football game, “Last week we wanted to play for the City of Houston and get them a win and things didn’t work out in our favor. This week we decided as a team to go out there and be who we really are. Just give it our all.”

I’m still rooting for the Texans and yes, anything is possible against New England next week too. If our team and city can handle all the flooding tribulations that came our way, preparing to play against the current Super Bowl Champions will not be easy but well worth the challenge??.
