Can Beyonce Live?

So, once upon a time there was an international singer songwriter from Houston, Texas named Beyonce. Many people adored her and thought she was amazingly talented. Until one day, she was asked to grace the stage of the NFL’s Super Bowl 50 half time show.

Instead of doing a mundane “I’ve seen it all before” performance; Beyonce pulled another “While you were sleeping I dropped some new music for ya” moment. Therefore the song Formation was born. How befitting to perform a new song at the 2016 Super Bowl that the world just heard the day before?

Anywho, Beyonce did just that. Not only did she perform, but she awakened a sleeping giant called history. By what do I mean when I say history? Well, her dancers were dressed in garments to salute and reflect the women of the Black Panther Party. What is the Black Panther Party?

Ironically the PBS channel presented a phenomenal documentary on February 16, detailing the history of the Black Panthers and debunking some mythical beliefs. If you missed it, the program will be available for streaming online on PBS.com. I’ll save my history explanation and allow you to watch the story online. Oh, I forgot to mention that several people are also upset with Beyonce due to her Formation video sending the wrong message. What message you say? Some feel she is denouncing police officers. ? Shocking; I know.

Well, at the 2016 Grammy Awards Beyonce gave a riveting speech before she announced the Record of the Year. Click the video below to hear her classy response to the foolishness.

Overall, out of all the crazy things going on in our world, some people find convenience in picking a spokesperson to portray their fear or negative views of society. Instead of discussing your concern with someone or something, we like to throw them to the media wolves.

Again I ask, can Beyonce live? Is she allowed to express her feelings through music while using costumes and videography to bring her storytelling to life?

Yes. In my world, Beyonce will live on to tell her many stories for me and others on May 7 when she visits her hometown of Houston, Texas. Live on Beyonce. Do you, freedom of expression and live on!
