Splashtown Waterpark Shuts Down After A Chemical Leak Sickens 60+ People

At least 60+ people became sick at the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown in Spring, TX, early Saturday afternoon. Authorities suspect a chemical leak featuring a combination of bleach and sulfuric acid may be the culprit; however, testing will continue, and the park will remain closed until further notice.

Identified reports of respiratory issues and skin irritation were noted near a kiddie pool area within the water park. At least 12 are hospitalized at this time, including a 3-year-old and a woman who went into labor at the park.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo spoke during a press conference and requested anyone who visited the park today to call 911 or seek help if they feel sick.
